WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Marshfield won nine of the 14 matches, including two by pin, and defeated Wisconsin Rapids 40-27 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference wrestling dual meet opener for both teams on Thursday at Lincoln High School.
Brett Franklin (145 pounds) and Hoyt Blaskowski (152) earned pins, and Caleb Dennee won by major decision at 160 to finish off the victory for Marshfield.
Garrett Willuweit won by technical fall at 170, Jon Sternweis earned a major decision at 106, and Owen Griesbach (182), James Clements (220) and Jace Kelnhofer (120) won by decision for the Tigers. Adrian Krueger added a forfeit win at 285.
Marshfield will compete at the Wisconsin Dells Invitational on Saturday.
