AUBURNDALE – A comeback bid by the Auburndale girls basketball team fell just short as Phillips held on for a 57-55 win in a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday night at Auburndale High School.

Phillips led 28-18 at halftime before Auburndale mounted a comeback as Ashlyn Grimm scored 14 of her 16 points as the Eagles made a run, but came up a hoop short.

Gracie Krings made six of Auburndale’s 11 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 20 points.

Kendall Weik had 15 points and Kacy Eggebrecht scored 14 for the Loggers, who are now 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the Marawood North.

Auburndale (5-2, 3-2 Marawood South) returns to action next Thursday at undefeated Wisconsin Rapids Assumption (7-0, 4-0 Marawood South).
