Columbus Catholic boys basketball dominates first half, rolls past Neillsville

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team held Neillsville to just 10 points in the opening half and cruised to a 59-36 victory in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup Friday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Columbus Catholic ran out to a 36-10 lead by halftime and rolled to the home win. The Dons are now 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the Cloverbelt East, while Neillsville falls to 2-2 and 1-1 in conference play.

Charlie Moore was the only player in the game in double figures, scoring 16 points to pace Columbus Catholic. Freshman Mac Konieczny had nine points and Blake Jakobi added eight for the Dons.

Cameron Kennedy topped Neillsville with eight points.

Columbus Catholic hosts Prairie du Chien for a nonconference game Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
