Marshfield boys hockey falls behind early, scores seven-straight goals to rout Medford

MEDFORD – Medford scored just 18 seconds into the game, but Marshfield matched it just 12 seconds later and poured on six consecutive goals after that to defeat the Raiders 7-1 in a nonconference boys hockey game Friday night at the Smirek Rec Center.

Miles Searles started the scoring in the opening seconds for Medford before Tanner Shortt tied it for the Tigers. Shortt added another goal midway through the first period to give Marshfield the lead, which it never relinquished.

Jacek Mancheski scored twice, and Blake Meissner, Judd Higgins and Charlie Kenney added goals for the Tigers, who are now 5-2 this season.

Noah Peterson had three assists and Tyler Reissmann had two assists for the Tigers. Cole Halvorsen saved 15 shots in the victory.

Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids for a Wisconsin Valley Conference game on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Marshfield Area Ice Arena at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
