SHAWANO – The Marshfield wrestling team won six of the 14 individual weight classes to earn the team championship at the 27-team Shawano Holiday Classic on Saturday at Shawano High School.
Jon Sternweis (106 pounds), Brett Franklin (145), Hoyt Blaskowski (152), Caleb Dennee (160), Garrett Willuweit (170) and Owen Griesbach (182) each won titles for the Tigers, who finished with 230 points. Shawano was second with 217 points.
Spencer/Columbus also competed at the event, taking 27th place.
Franklin, Blaskowski and Willuweit each remain undefeated this season, pushing their records to 14-0. Dennee and Griesbach are now 13-1, while Sternweis is 11-3.
James Clements finished second at 220 pounds, and Adrian Krueger beat teammate Brok Carolfi by pin to take third at 285 pounds as well for the Tigers.
Cole Hanson took sixth at 220 pounds and Fletcher Post was sixth at 106 pounds for Spencer/Columbus’ top finishes.
Marshfield will host Wausau East for a Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet on Thursday.
