STRATFORD – The Stratford boys basketball team found its offensive rhythm early, putting up 39 points in the first half and exceeding that in the second as it rolled to an 81-57 victory over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday night at Stratford High School.
The Tigers, who had lost five of their last six games after winning the first three of the season, raced out to a 39-21 lead by halftime and put up 42 more points in the second half to earn the double-digit win.
Ashton Wrensch had 26 points, and Brady Schmidt drilled five 3-pointers and added 21 points for Stratford, which evens its record at 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the Marawood South.
Assumption stats were not reported. The Royals are now 3-7 and 2-4 in the conference.
Stratford returns to action Friday for a Marawood crossover game at Abbotsford.
