MARSHFIELD – Stevens Point remains undefeated atop the Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey standings after a 10-1 rout of Marshfield on Thursday at the Marshfield Area Ice Arena.
The Panthers (11-3, 6-0 WVC) scored twice in the first period, three more times in the second, and twice in the opening four minutes of the third to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
Marshfield finally got on the scoreboard when Noah Peterson found the back of the net after an assist from Tyler Reissman, but it was much to little for the Tigers, who allowed three more goals in the final seven minutes.
Carson Somers had a hat trick and Jackson Schroeder scored twice for Stevens Point.
Marshfield (9-8, 1-4 WVC) will have a week off before playing at Wausau West next Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Marathon Park Ice Arena.
