NEENAH – The Marshfield girls basketball team took fourth-ranked Neenah to the brink, but couldn’t overcome a seven-point halftime deficit and dropped a nonconference game 62-54 on Tuesday night at Neenah High School.

Neenah, ranked fourth in this week’s Wissports.net Division 1 state coaches poll, led 28-21 at halftime. Despite 23 points from Marshfield senior guard Dani Minsaas in the second half, the Tigers were not able to make up any ground.

Minsaas finished with a game-high and season-best 32 points, which included six 3-pointers, for the Tigers, who are now 12-4.

Allie Ziebell, a University of Connecticut recruit and candidate for state player of the year honors, had 28 points for Neenah, which improves to 15-1 this season.

Marshfield returns to Wisconsin Valley Conference play on Friday night at home against Merrill.
