STRATFORD – Lauren Kraus scored 25 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked three shots to lift the Stratford girls basketball team to a 48-40 nonconference win over Colby on Monday night at Stratford High School.
The Tigers dominated the first half, pulling out to a 25-13 lead by halftime. Colby outscored Stratford by four in the second half but wasn’t able to make up the double-digit deficit.
Bailey Linzmaier added 12 points for the Tigers, who are now 8-8 this season. Stratford made 17 of 20 free throws to overcome a tough shooting night from the field as it shot just 26 percent (14 of 53).
Angelique Hernandez had 15 points for Colby (2-13).
Stratford plays a Marawood Conference South Division game at Marathon on Thursday.
