OWEN – Jenna Kibbel scored 17 points to pace the Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team in a hard-fought 43-41 overtime win over Owen-Withee on Tuesday at Owen-Withee High School.
Lily Stratman and Kibbel each made a basket, and Hailey Zimmermann made both free throws in the extra frame for the Dons. Zimmermann added 13 points in the victory.
Columbus Catholic’s win helps it keep a solid lead on second place in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division standings as it improves to 12-8 overall and 8-3 in the conference. The Dons are 1½ games ahead of Gilman for second place with three games remaining, including a matchup at Gilman on Feb. 7. Neillsville has already clinched the conference title as it is a perfect 12-0.
Kendall Weiler had 13 points to lead Owen-Withee (7-10, 5-6 Cloverbelt East).
Columbus Catholic hosts Greenwood on Thursday.
