MARSHFIELD – Emily Jensen and Phoebe Hernandez won individual events to help the Marshfield gymnastics team to a team victory at its home Marshfield Invitational on Saturday at Marshfield High School.
Jensen won the uneven bars with a score of 8.65 and Hernandez was first in the floor exercise with a score of 8.9 to help the Tigers to a total of 136 points to earn the individual title. Ashland was second with 127.75 points.
Jensen also finished second in the vault (8.8), balance beam (9.35) and floor exercise (8.8) to take second place in the all-around competition (35.6) behind Rice Lake’s Avery Ash (35.825).
Hernandez also earned a third-place finish in the vault (8.75) and Paige Treutel was third in the balance beam (8.85) for the Tigers.
Marshfield’s Karsyn Miller won the uneven bars (7.3) and the balance beam (8.0), Treutel was first in the floor (8.0) and Kyra Huff won the vault (8.3) as the JV squad also placed first.
Marshfield will compete along with Stevens Point at Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday.
