STRATFORD – Stratford overcame a double-digit deficit in the final seven minutes, but Edgar was able to pull ahead late and finished off a 41-39 win in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Stratford High School.
Edgar led 27-19 at halftime and were up 35-25 in the second half before the Tigers stormed back to tie the game at 37-37 on a pair of free throws by Tessa Berg with 1:57 to go.
Reagan Borchardt made a hoop with 51 seconds to go and and Amber Skrzypcak made two free throws with 9 seconds to go to put Edgar up by four and secure the win. Stratford scored just before the buzzer to provide the final margin.
Borchardt finished with 16 points to lead Edgar, which improves to 16-5 overall and 10-4 in the Marawood South, 1½ games behind Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in the conference standings.
Lexie Christopherson scored 12 points, and Lauren Kraus had another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for Stratford (9-11, 3-9 Marawood South).
Stratford hosts Rib Lake on Friday at 7:15 p.m. for a Marawood crossover game.
