GILMAN – Marshfield Columbus Catholic outscored Gilman 17-1 in the first quarter and never looked back, knocking off the Pirates 54-18 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Gilman High School.
Deanna Kaiser scored seven points and Elizabeth Manlick added six in the opening quarter as the Dons built a huge cushion, scoring nearly as many points as Gilman would score in the entire game.
Manlick finished with 18 points, making 8 of 12 free throws. Kaiser added 11 and Taylor Weister scored 10 points for Columbus, which improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Gilman falls to 0-3, 0-2 in the conference.
Columbus plays at Owen-Withee on Friday.
