Marshfield girls basketball grabs first win

LA CROSSE – Marshfield outscored La Crosse Central 15-5 over the middle two quarters and went on to beat the Red Raiders 35-25 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday at Central High School.

Taylor Varsho scored 12 points, Eleni Seitz added nine points and eight rebounds, and Leah Ripp chipped in with eight points for the Tigers, who improve to 1-1 on the season.

Marshfield shot just 28 percent (13 of 47) but won the battle on the boards 22-11.

Marshfield has more than a week off before opening its Wisconsin Valley Conference season at Stevens Point on Friday, Dec. 17.
