AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale boys basketball overcame a three-point halftime deficit with a dominant second half and pulled past Amherst 69-54 in a nonconference matchup Monday at Auburndale High School.
Amherst led 31-28 at halftime before the Eagles buckled down and outscored the Falcons by 18 points in the second half to earn the victory.
Five Auburndale players scored in double figures, with Mason White Eagle scoring a team-high 15, and Lucas Yeske and Alex Willfahrt each adding 14. Yeske also had a team-high 10 rebounds.
Amherst made 11 3-pointers, four from Trevor Ehrenberg and Tyler Soulsby. Spencer Cohen led the Falcons with 15 points.
Auburndale will play another nonconference game Tuesday at home against Loyal before finishing its regular-season and Marawood Conference South Division schedule Thursday at Edgar.
