SPENCER – Krystal Weier scored 14 points and Spencer made 15 of 23 free throws to beat Loyal 53-37 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Friday night at Spencer High School.
Weier hit 6 of 12 shots, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range, and made 4 of 5 free throws to spark the Spencer offense.
Tara Matter added eight points and Aubrie Bissonette had seven points and seven rebounds for Spencer, which improves to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Cloverbelt East. Loyal falls to 1-3, 0-3 in the Cloverbelt East.
Spencer led 12-6 after the first quarter and opened it up to 29-16 by halftime.
Caitlyn Weinfurter had 13 points to lead Loyal.
Spencer plays at Augusta on Thursday.
