Auburndale senior Alex Willfahrt and Marshfield Columbus Catholic junior Emmitt Konieczny were chosen as honorable mention recipients on the 2022-23 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-State Boys Basketball Teams.
Ten players were named first-team selections in five divisions.
Willfahrt, a unanimous first-team Marawood Conference South Division selection, was among the honorable mention choices on the Division 4 team. Willfahrt led Auburndale in scoring at 14.5 points per game this season with 32 3-pointers as the Eagles finished third in the conference at 13-3 and ended up 24-4 overall after reaching the Division 4 sectional final.
Konieczny, a repeat first-team all-Cloverbelt Conference East Division performer, was an honorable mention selection on the Division 5 team. Konieczny led Columbus Catholic in scoring at 15.5 points per game, while shooting 77 percent from the free throw line and making 62 3-pointers. He also topped the Dons in assists with 112.
Pewaukee’s Milan Momcilovic and De Pere’s John Kinziger were named Co-Mr. Basketball for the state.
A number of other Central Wisconsin players also earned all-state honors. D.C. Everest’s Marcus Hall was a Division 1 first-team pick, Marathon’s Grant Warren was a first-team selection in Division 4, and Wausau Newman Catholic’s Mason Prey and Stevens Point Pacelli’s Jaydon Awe were Division 5 first-team picks.
Newman Catholic’s Conner Krach and Isaac Seidel were Division 5 honorable mention choices, and Neillsville’s Andrew Brown was a Division 4 honorable mention pick.
