Marshfield High School softball player Katelyn Sternweis has been voted the Awards ‘n’ More March High School Athlete of the Month.
MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports are co-sponsors of the award for the 2022-23 school year. The monthly award will continue through June 2023, and the winners of the Awards ‘n’ More High School Athlete of the Year, for both male and female athletes, will be announced in July.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Amherst, Athens, Assumption, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, D.C. Everest, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Iola-Scandinavia, Loyal, Marshfield, Marathon, Mosinee, Neillsville, Newman Catholic, Pacelli, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Rosholt, Spencer, Stratford, Stevens Point, Wild Rose, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
Sternweis received 1,079 of the nearly 2,100 votes cast during voting from April 3-10 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com.

Other nominees for the March award were: Stratford softball player Laney Pankratz, Wausau Newman Catholic boys basketball player Mason Prey and Auburndale boys basketball player Mason White Eagle.
Sternweis was the winning pitcher in all three of the Tigers’ wins as they won their bracket title at the Rhinelander Invitational on March 23-24 at the Hodag Dome. Sternweis struck out nine in an 11-4 win over Rice Lake on March 23, and followed that up with seven strikeouts on the mound and two base hits at the plate in a 15-2 win over Lakeland, and nine strikeouts and only one walk in a 10-0 shutout of Rhinelander on March 24.
