EAU CLAIRE – Marshfield managed only three shots on goal and dropped a 2-0 decision to Eau Claire North in a nonconference girls soccer game Tuesday at North High School.

Halle Steinmetz scored in the 23rd minute and Leah Luedtke added a goal 3:39 into the second half for the Huskies, who were playing their season opener.

Marshfield goalkeeper Payton Bremer had eight saves as the Tigers fall to 2-3 this season.

“We need to put the ball in the net and need to put our best players in places to have more success,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “That, the coaches will do a better job of as we proceed in the season. We are learning but need to put a full game together.”

Marshfield hosts Wausau East in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener Thursday at 5 p.m. at Heiting Community Stadium.
