WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Auburndale baseball team bumped its Marawood Conference South Division record to 3-1 with a doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday.
The Eagles won 8-1 and 15-1, improving to 4-2 overall this spring.
Auburndale took advantage of 10 Assumption walks and five errors to earn the Game 1 win.
Aden Cherney had a pair of hits and drove in two, and Ian Brown scored twice for the Eagles. Blake Raab picked up the pitching win, striking out six in 5 2/3 innings.
The Eagles scored five times in the bottom of the first inning and put up 10 in the fourth to finish off the second game via the 10-run rule.
Cherney picked up the five-inning complete-game with four strikeouts, and he also scored three runs.
Kaden Anderson led the Auburndale offense, smacking a double and a home run with two RBI. Trayton Weber had a triple and three RBI, and Sloan Welch also had two hits and two RBIs in the victory.
Assumption falls to 1-4 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Auburndale returns to action Monday with a nonconference game at Nekoosa.
