MARSHFIELD – Kaiden Miller delivered a two-run single in the fifth inning to break a tie and lift the Spencer baseball team to a 4-1 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.
Columbus Catholic took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Devyn Timmler in the bottom of the second inning.
Spencer retaliated with a run in the third on a run-scoring single by Luke Roehrborn and broke it open in the fifth. Roehrborn added another RBI single following Miller’s hit and the Rockets led 4-1.
The score held the rest of the way as Spencer’s Madden Prybylski threw three shutout innings to earn the save for starter Reed Knecht.
The Rockets have now won four games in a row and improve to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Columbus Catholic drops to 2-5 and 1-1 in the conference.
Columbus Catholic hosts Rib Lake for a nonconference game Monday and Loyal in a Cloverbelt East game Tuesday. Spencer is off until Tuesday when it plays a conference game at home against Owen-Withee.
