STRATFORD – Brady Schmidt and Jackson Ormond combined on a no-hitter as the Stratford baseball team shut out first-place Marathon 4-0 in a Marawood Conference South Division matchup Thursday at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.
The two teams split their two conference games this week after Marathon won a hard-fought 8-7 game on Tuesday. Stratford is now 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the Marawood South, while Marathon drops to 6-2 and 4-1 in the conference.
Schmidt struck out eight with two walks in 6 2/3 innings, and Ormond got the final out after Schmidt eclipsed the 100-pitch limit.

Jack Tubbs and Braeden Schueller each had two this and an RBI, and Ormond also had two hits for the Tigers.
Stratford hosts Phillips for a nonconference game Friday at 4:45 p.m.
