MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team scored eight times in the first inning and seven more in the second to make quick work of Spencer in a 15-0 victory in its long-awaited Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener Thursday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
The Dons only had four hits as they took advantage of 11 walks, three hit batters and two errors to cruise to the win and improve to 5-2 overall.
Hailey Hargraves and Hailey Zimmermann each had a single and three RBI to pace the Columbus Catholic offense.
Spencer (0-10, 0-3 Cloverbelt East) plays a conference doubleheader at Colby/Abbotsford on Friday. Columbus Catholic is back in action Tuesday when it hosts Loyal/Greenwood for a Cloverbelt East twinbill starting at 4 p.m.
