GREENWOOD – Andrew Sieracki threw a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Spencer baseball team to a shutout win and a doubleheader sweep over Greenwood on Thursday at Greenwood Elementary School.
The Rockets won the opening game 15-7 and rolled 12-0 in the second game to run their record to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division.
Sieracki struck out nine and did not walk a batter in Game 2. A hit batter was the only blemish for Sieracki, who also had a single, a triple and two RBI in the victory.
In Game 1, Spencer trailed 4-3 after two innings before scoring four times in the third. The Rockets tacked on eight more runs over the next four innings to finish off the victory.
Carter Luepke picked up the pitching win, striking out six in five innings. Reed Knecht had three hits and three RBI, Kaiden Miller had two hits and two RBI, and Sieracki had two hits and also drove in two for Spencer.
In the second game, the Rockets scored multiple runs in the first three innings to cruise to the win. Madden Pybylski had three hits and three RBI, and Knecht and Miller also had two hits each, and combined for five RBI.
Spencer plays at Loyal on Friday.
