STRATFORD – The Stratford boys won four events and earned three runner-up finishes to take the team title at its home Stratford Track & Field Invitational on Thursday at Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers finished with 117.5 points, with Edgar second with 99. Spencer was sixth with 59, Auburndale seventh with 56, and Columbus Catholic 11th with 28.
Edgar took the girls team title with 115.5 points, with Loyal second with 103 and Stratford third with 99.5. Columbus Catholic was ninth with 21, Auburndale 10th with 11 and Spencer 11th with 8 points.
Jett Schoenherr won the 100 meters in 11.07 seconds and teamed with Payton Glenn, Austin O’Neil and Coltan Breit to win the 400 relay in 44.93 for Stratford.
Glenn also won the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 7½ inches, and the 3,200 relay team of Lance Krieg, Ethan Heeg, Derek Wiese and Garrett Zuelke won in 8:58.70 for the Tigers.
Glenn added a second-place finish in the 200 (24.03), Xander Curtice was runner-up in the 300 hurdles (44.90), and Benjamin Zuelke was second in the high jump (5-6) for the Stratford boys.
Mason White Eagle snagged Auburndale’s lone victory as he won the high jump (5-8).
Lucas Yeske had three top-three finishes for the Eagles, taking second in the discus (132-5), and third in both the long jump (19-2) and triple jump (39-8).
The Columbus Catholic boys had three runner-up finishes as Isaac Scheer was second in the 1,600 (4:37.80) and 3,200 (9:59.65), and Cal Birkhauser took second in the 800 (2:07.28).
The Spencer boys also had a pair of second-place finishes. Kyle Nieman was second in the 110 hurdles (16.44) and Breckin Miller took second in the pole vault (12-6).
Kayla Casperson won the girls 3,200 in 12:35, and teamed with Ella Heidmann, Breleigh Skaya and Kaylie McHugh to win the 3,200 relay in 10:59.85 for the Stratford girls.
Skaya also took second in the 1,600 (5:55.56) and Dawnyel Martin was runner-up in the 300 hurdles (50.00) for the Tigers.
Lilly Hasenohrl had a second-place finish in the discus (89-6) for the Auburndale girls, and Aubrey Waldhauser was second in the pole vault (7-6) for the Columbus Catholic girls.
