MARSHFIELD – Colby pulled ahead with a 14-7 run in the third quarter and held on, defeating Marshfield Columbus Catholic 37-34 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Thursday night at Columbus Catholic High School.
Corrine Meacham scored six of her 11 points in the third-quarter run for the Hornets, who remain perfect in the Cloverbelt East at 3-0 (3-2 overall).
Sarah Gamillo had a game-high 15 points for Colby. She scored five of the Hornets’ eight points in the fourth quarter, making 3 of 4 from the free-throw line.
Columbus (3-4, 2-2 Cloverbelt East) led 18-15 at halftime but couldn’t overcome the Hornets’ strong third quarter.
Taylor Weister had 11 points and nine rebounds, and Lindsay Brandt nine points for the Dons, who shot just 16 of 57 from the field.
Columbus plays at Spencer on Tuesday.
