EDGAR – Makayla Wirkus struck out nine in a complete-game effort as Edgar held off Stratford 2-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Thursday at Edgar High School.
Edgar improves to 7-8 overall and ends its Marawood South season with a 5-5 record. Stratford falls to 11-6 and 4-4 in the Marawood South. The Tigers finish their conference schedule with a home doubleheader against Wausau Newman Catholic on Tuesday.
Morgan Streveler drove in both runs for Edgar, which had only four hits.
Tria Tubbs took the loss for the Tigers, striking out five and walking four. She also drove in Stratford’s lone run in the third inning. Bailey Linzmaier had two hits for the Tigers.
Stratford hosts Rib Lake for a nonconference game Friday.
