GILMAN – The Spencer baseball team scored four times in the first inning and put the game away with an eight-run sixth in a 15-6 victory over Gilman on Thursday to keep its Cloverbelt Conference East Division championship hopes alive.
Andrew Sieracki went 4-for-5 with four runs scored, and Reed Knecht had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two for the Rockets, who are now 9-5 overall and 6-2 in the Cloverbelt East. Neillsville leads the conference standings at 9-1.
Tyler Peterson earned the win on the mound, striking out four and walking five in five innings, giving up four runs.
Kaiden Miller, Luke Roehrborn and Carter Luepke all drove in two runs as well for Spencer.
Spencer hosts Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Friday at 5 p.m.
