AUBURNDALE – Mya Krings and Hope Schulte each homered as the Auburndale softball team finished off its Marawood Conference South Division season with an 8-6 win over Marathon on Thursday at Auburndale High School.

Krings homered and Ashlyn Grimm had an RBI double in the first inning, and Schulte drove in a run with a single in the second as Auburndale opened up a 4-1 lead.

Schulte added a homer in the fourth and the Eagles made it 8-1 with a three-run fifth.

Marathon made a game of it with five runs in the top of the sixth, but Grimm relieved starter Samantha Stanton and struck out three in a 1 2/3 innings to earn the save for Auburndale (11-3, 7-3 Marawood South).

Katie LeBlanc drove in three runs and Danica Staus had three hits for Marathon (5-13, 0-10 Marawood South).
