MARSHFIELD – Chippewa Falls scored nine times in the fifth inning to pull away in Game 1 and piled up 14 runs in the first inning to take the second end of a nonconference softball doubleheader over Marshfield on Monday at Madison Field.
Chippewa Falls won 10-5 and 17-2 to improve to 16-4 this season. Marshfield has now dropped 11 straight and fall to 8-14.
Delaney Varsho had two hits, and Raina Manlick had two doubles and drove in two in the opener for Marshfield.
In Game 2, Chippewa Falls used the big first inning to pull away quickly and ended the game due to the 15-run rule after three innings.
Lydia Garvin had an RBI triple and Madison Kraus knocked in a run for the Tigers.
Marshfield will wrap up its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule at D.C. Everest on Tuesday.
