STEVENS POINT – Marshfield earned another second-place finish to surge into second in the overall team standings at the sixth leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Golf Tournament on Monday at Stevens Point Country Club.
All five Marshfield golfers finished in the top 14 as the Tigers had a score of 329, just one shot behind meet champion Wausau East.
The second-place finish for the Tigers, the fourth in six meets this season, combined with Wisconsin Rapids’ fifth-place finish, moves Marshfield into second place in the overall standings by one point over the Raiders.
Wausau East’s Sawyer Krambs and Stevens Point’s Hayden Ackerlund tied for medalist honors with 77s, one shot ahead of East’s Cooper Bjerke, the overall individual leader.
Marshfield senior Kyle Berres finished fourth with a 79. Tyler Heiman tied for fifth with an 80, Ethan Schnitzler tied for ninth with an 82, and Keegan Fredrick and Maxx Oertel were part of a four-way tie for 14th with 88s for the Tigers.
The seventh and final leg of the tournament will be Friday at RiverEdge Golf Course in Marshfield.
