IOLA – Marshfield Columbus Catholic/Spencer junior Charlie Moore qualified for next week’s sectionals after finishing fourth at the WIAA Division 2 boys golf regional at Glacier Woods Golf Club on Monday.
The top four teams – Mosinee (329), Amherst (347), Oconto Falls (368) and Wittenberg-Birnamwood (372) – and the top four individuals not on those teams move on to the Division 2 sectional at Hilly Haven Golf Course in De Pere on Tuesday, May 30.
Moore shot an 83 to finish fourth in the individual standings, helping Columbus Catholic/Spencer to a sixth-place finish in the team standings with a 384.
Jett Walters of Mosinee shot a 3-under par 68 to win the regional title, five shots ahead of Grant Bauman of Peshtigo, who earned one of the four individual qualifying slots for the sectional.
Marinette’s Dominic Smerchek (87) and Brady Eastman (90) grabbed the other two individual qualifying spots.
Josh Weiland had a 98, Kohle Hilgemann had a 101, Kaleb Hilgemann had a 102 and Emily Boyer had a 118 to round out the scoring for Columbus Catholic/Spencer.
