MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls track team continued its stellar season as it won team title at the WIAA Division 1 regional on Monday at Heiting Community Stadium.
The Marshfield girls won five events and had 16 sectional qualifiers, racking up 140 points to earn the team regional championship by 12 points over D.C. Everest.
The Marshfield boys had three individuals earn a combined five sectional berths, and two relay teams will also move on as the Tigers took fourth in the team standings. Stevens Point was the regional champion.
The top four finishers in each event at the regional moves on to the Division 1 sectional at D.C. Everest on Thursday.
Michaela Dick won the 300-meter hurdles in 45.02 seconds, Aubri Brown won both the shot put (39 feet, 8¼ inches) and the discus (125-7), Danielle Minsaas won the high jump (5-4), and the 800 relay team of Ellie Jensen, Lucy Luedtke, Olivia Page and Dick won in 1:46.65 to earn regional titles for the Marshfield girls.
Emma Ridgway earned a runner-up finish in the high jump (5-2), and Marshfield had seven third-place finishes.
Third-place finishers for the Marshfield girls were: Page in the 200 (27.00), Natalie Scharenbroch in the 3,200 (11:57.47), Minsaas in the 100 hurdles (16.29) and 300 hurdles (49.14), Ashley Grancorvitz in the triple jump (33-3), the 400 relay team of Devyn LeMoine, Gracie Ridgway, Emma Ridgway and Alyssa Foemmel (51.45), and the 1,600 relay team of Jensen, Minsaas, Ella Allar and Dick) 4:09.18.
Also moving on to sectionals for the Marshfield girls were three fourth-place finishers: Allar in the 400 (1:03.08), Gracie Ridgway in the high jump (5-0), and the 3,200 relay team of Calleigh Kanitz, Ava Raab, Zaida Kolbeck and Scharenbroch (10:18.87).
Luke LeMoine and Trevor Foemmel each moved on to sectionals in two events for the Marshfield boys. LeMoine was second in the 300 hurdles (41.03) and the long jump (21-3.5), and Foemmel finished third in the 300 hurdles (41.88) and fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.92).
Noah Peterson took fourth in the shot put (48-1), the 800 relay team of Joshua Schaefer, Marcus Neve, Jeffery Marsh and LeMoine took third in 1:32.80, and the 3,200 relay team of Joey Ketterer, Charlie Kenney, Michael Dick and Thomas Cashmer placed third (8:34.73) to also snag sectional spots for Marshfield.
The top three finishers in each event at the D.C. Everest sectional on Thursday will qualify for the 2023 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on June 2-3.
