ROSHOLT – Auburndale had eight individuals and three relay teams shore up sectional berths after competition at a WIAA Division 3 Track & Field Regional on Monday at Rosholt High School.
The top four finishers in each event qualify for the sectional, where the top four finishers there will move on to the 2023 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of La Crosse on June 2-3.
The Manawa girls and Shiocton boys won the regional team titles.
No Auburndale athlete or relay won a regional title, but one had a runner-up finish as the girls 400-meter relay team of Denver Korslin, Olivia Smrz, Shea Fabisiak and Molly Jewell was second in 53.04 seconds.
Moving on in individual events for the Auburndale girls were Korslin in the 100 (third, 13.70), Lilly Hasenohrl in the discus (third, 100-3), Jewell in the 100 (fourth, 13.93) and Smirz in the 200 (fourth, 29.19).
Grabbing sectional berths for the Auburndale boys were: Adam Dorshorst in the discus (third, 136-3), Lucas Yeske in both the discus (fourth, 130-11) and the long jump (19-0), Mason White Eagle in the high jump (fourth, 5-10), the 1,600 relay team of Grosskopf, Keegan Empey, Sawyer Cherney and Adam Kundinger (fourth 3:42.80) and the 3,200 relay team of Grosskopf, Charles Jewell, Kundinger and White Eagle (third, 8:40.92).
The sectional meet is Thursday at Marathon High School.
