STRATFORD – Brady Schmidt and Henry Zaleski combined on a five-hitter as the Stratford baseball team cruised past Cadott 7-2 in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal on Thursday at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.
The No. 4 seed Stratford (15-5) will host No. 5 seed Elk Mound (15-6) in a D-3 regional semifinal Thursday at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field beginning at 5 p.m. Cadott finishes its season with a 5-15 record.
Schmidt struck out 12 and walked four in 6 1/3 innings before Zaleski entered and retired the final two batters to finish off the win for the Tigers.
Stratford scored three times in the second inning thanks to a Cadott error and a pair of wild pitches.
The Tigers boosted their lead to 6-0 in the fifth. After a double by Jack Tubbs, who finished 4-for-4 in the game, and a walk and a single by Braeden Schueller, Jackson Ormond was hit by a pitch to force in a run. Landon Zawislan added a sacrifice fly and John Seitz followed with an RBI single.
Stratford finished off the scoring when Tubbs singled, stole second, went to third on a ground out and scored on another Cadott wild pitch.
