Marshfield girls track athlete Michaela Dick has been voted the Awards ‘n’ More May High School Athlete of the Month.
MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports are co-sponsors of the award for the 2022-23 school year. The monthly award will continue through June 2023, and the winners of the Awards ‘n’ More High School Athlete of the Year, for both male and female athletes, will be announced in July.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Amherst, Athens, Assumption, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, D.C. Everest, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Iola-Scandinavia, Loyal, Marshfield, Marathon, Mosinee, Neillsville, Newman Catholic, Pacelli, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Rosholt, Spencer, Stratford, Stevens Point, Wild Rose, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
Dick received 1,777 of the nearly 4,100 votes cast during voting from June1-8 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com.
Other nominees for the May award were: Wausau Newman Catholic boys golfer Conner Krach, D.C. Everest baseball player Nate Langbehn, Stevens Point Pacelli softball player Kaydyn Nelson, Stevens Point baseball player Ty Rechner and Stratford softball player Tria Tubbs.
Dick won the 300-meter hurdles and was part of two relay teams that finished second at sectionals on May 25 at D.C. Everest, earning a spot in all three events at the WIAA State Track & Field Championships. Dick won the 300 hurdles in 45.17 seconds and ran the final leg of the 800 and 1,600 relay teams at the sectionals. Dick also won the 300 hurdles at the regional on May 22 at Marshfield in 45.07 seconds, breaking her own school record. She also won the 400 meters at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet in 59.11 seconds on May 16 at Wisconsin Rapids.
