PLOVER – The Marshfield Senior Legion baseball team had 10 hits but could only plate two runs and dropped a 5-2 decision to Plover in a Wisconsin Valley Legion Conference matchup Monday at Memorial Field.
Marshfield scored both of its runs in the top of the fifth on RBI by Aden Cherney and Adam Gilbertson to close to within 3-2, but the Black Sox (6-1) added two insurance runs in the sixth and stranded two Marshfield runners on base in the seventh.
Cherney, Ben Dietsche and Chase Robinson each had two hits for the Blue Devils, who drop to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the WVLC.
Marshfield plays at Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday.
