STEVENS POINT – Plover poured on nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to blow open a tight game and defeat Marshfield 11-1 in a first-round game of the 17U Legion baseball regional on Friday afternoon at Bukolt Park.
Marshfield (8-21) was held to three hits, including an RBI double by Caleb Schaefer in the third inning.
Plover took the lead with two runs in the fourth and finished off the game via the 10-run rule with a nine-run fifth.
The double-elimination tournament continues on Saturday.
