Greenwood pulls away in fourth quarter to beat Spencer boys basketball

GREENWOOD – Greenwood outscored Spencer 18-8 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 50-40 Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball victory on Tuesday night at Greenwood High School.

Brandon Herr had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Josh Cook added 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Indians (4-2 overall and Cloverbelt East) to the win.

Wyatt Phillips had 16 points and Steven Gilboy had 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals for Spencer, which falls to 2-3 overall and in the Cloverbelt East.

Spencer fought back from a 26-23 halftime deficit to tie the game heading into the fourth quarter, but managed only eight points during the final 8 minutes.

Spencer shot just 30 percent (16 of 53), 42 percent from the free-throw line (5 of 12) and 3 of 21 from 3-point range.

The Rockets are off until Jan. 4 when they host Loyal.
