MERRILL – The Marshfield girls swim team opened its 2023 season with an eighth-place finish at the Merrill Fun in the Sun Meet at the Merrill Area Recreation Center outdoor pool on Thursday.
Rhinelander won seven of the nine races to win the team title with 348 points. Stevens Point, which won the other two events, took second with 318, while Marshfield was eighth among the 12 teams with 164 points.
Marshfield had a pair of third-place finishes as the team of Ireland Moran, Brooke Begotka, Terra Risa and Ella Allar were third in the 200 medley relay (1:59.86) and the 400 medley relay (4:43.05).
Marshfield will compete at the Menomonie Invitational on Saturday.
