SPENCER – St. Croix Central scored on its first six possessions and returned an interception for a touchdown, all in the first half, and went on to a 70-0 shutout of Spencer/Columbus in a nonconference football game Friday night at Spencer High School.
Samuel Fischer scored on an 11-yard run and Caden Wester tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Mason Sullivan to give the Panthers a quick 14-0 lead.
St. Croix Central scored on the first play of the second quarter as Wester threw a 21-yard TD pass to Sullivan.
The Panthers added four more touchdowns in the second quarter, which included a 17-yard interception return by Sullivan and two rushing TDs from Noah Nusbaum.
St. Croix Central put the game away with three third-quarter touchdowns, including another interception return for a score and a punt return for a touchdown.
Spencer/Columbus plays another nonconference game at Colby next Friday, Aug. 25.
