NEKOOSA – Columbus Catholic scored three times in the first half and cruised to a 4-1 nonconference win over Nekoosa in the boys soccer opener for both teams on Tuesday at Nekoosa High School.
Cy Becker scored two minutes in, and Alex Edwards and Charlie Moore added goals before halftime as the Dons ran out to a 3-0 lead.
Edwards scored again on a penalty kick in the 47th minute before Nekoosa added its only goal in the 65th minute.
Columbus outshot Nekoosa 14-2 in the victory.
Columbus Catholic will take on Central Wisconsin Christian at the Crusader Kickoff Classic in Waupun on Friday, and will play two more games at the tournament on Saturday.
