STEVENS POINT – Natalie Scharenbroch and Owen Hoerneman had top-12 finishes for Marshfield at the Stevens Point Panther Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Standing Rock Park.
Scharenbroch finished ninth in the girls race, running in 20:30.7, while Hoerneman took 12th in the boys 5-kilometer run in 16:56.9 to lead the Tigers.
Stevens Point swept the team titles, with Oconomowoc second in the boys standings and Appleton North the runner-up in the girls standings.
Aloysius Franzen of Stevens Point won the boys race in 15:07.0, 43 seconds ahead of teammate Ethan Olds. Stevens Point had five top-nine finishes to run away with the team title.
Thomas Cashmer added a top-20 finish for Marshfield, taking 17th in 17:11.7. Marshfield only had four runs and did not figure in the team points standings.
The Auburndale boys finished 11th, with Sawyer Cherney as its top runner. He finished 58th in 20:34.0.
The Marshfield girls took eighth place and Auburndale 12th.
In addition to Scharenbroch, Adeline Lonsdale took 39th in 22:44.4 and Kassidy Christopher was 46th in 22:59.8 for Marshfield.
Auburndale’s top runner was Rose Hasenhorl, who was 45th in 22:56.4.
Auburndale is back in action Tuesday at the Neillsville Invitational.
Marshfield will compete at the Stratford Invitational at RiverEdge Golf Course in Marshfield on Friday.
