Columbus Catholic’s Hoglund moves past 1,000 career digs as the Dons sweep Neillsville

NEILLSVILLE – Izzy Hoglund surpassed the 1,000 dig mark for her career as the Marshfield Columbus Catholic volleyball team swept Neillsville 3-0 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division match Thursday night at Neillsville High School.

The Dons won 25-17, 25-17, 25-13, to improve to 3-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Neillsville is now 1-2.

Hoglund finished with five digs and six service aces in the win, moving past the career milestone in the opening set.

“We are so proud of Izzy,” Columbus Catholic coach Kat Egle said. “She reads the hitters well for digging and she is a great server. She can spot hit it anywhere.”

Courtney Sommer finished with 12 assists, 11 kills, five digs and three aces, Alayna Egle had a team-best 18 assists and eight digs, Shelby Spata added eight kills and four aces, and Mattea Schlafke had seven kills for the Dons.

Columbus Catholic will participate in the Medford Invitational on Saturday.
