SPENCER – Amherst piled up 282 rushing yards and took control early with five first-half touchdowns as it went on to a 49-12 win over Spencer/Columbus Catholic in a Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division football game Friday night at Spencer High School.
The Falcons led 28-0 before Spencer/Columbus scored a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter. Quarterback Devlin Timmler completed TD passes of 36 yards to Kohle Hilgemann and 16 yards to Logan Ehlert to keep the Rockets within striking distance, but they couldn’t find the end zone in the second half.
Timmler finished 11-for-22 for 173 yards passing, with Teddy Meyer catching three balls for 78 yards and Drew Lang hauling in three passes for 41 yards for Spencer/Columbus (0-6, 0-4 CWC Large).

The Rockets were held to 22 yards rushing in the loss.
Nasiah Holland ran for 144 yards and three touchdowns, and quarterback Michael Benjamin added 110 rushing yards and scored twice for the Falcons.
Amherst (3-3, 2-2 CWC Large) hosts undefeated Weyauwega-Fremont, while Spencer/Columbus will be at home against Nekoosa (2-4, 1-3 CWC Large) next Friday, Sept. 29. Both games start at 7 p.m.
