MARATHON – Auburndale racked up 400 yards of offense, 245 on the ground and held off Marathon for a 44-29 win in a Marawood Conference football game Friday night at Marathon High School.
Auburndale quarterback Kaden Anderson ran for 156 yards on just 13 carries and scored three touchdowns, and also threw for 113 yards and another score for the Eagles, who remain undefeated this season at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Marawood.
Anderson had touchdown runs of 4 and 15 yards, and threw a TD pass to Blake Raab, as the Eagles took a 21-9 lead into halftime.
Anderson started the second-half scoring with a 46-yard touchdown run, and Evan Scholl added a pair of scoring runs as Auburndale was able to offset three Marathon scores over the final 24 minutes.
Scholl added 87 yards on the ground as Auburndale finished with 245 rushing yards in the win.
