ATHENS – Marshfield Columbus Catholic’s Isaac Scheer won the boys race at the 16-team Athens Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Erbach Park.
Phillips swept the team titles in the meet where nearly 250 runners took part in the two varsity races.
Scheer won the boys race in 16:45.5, 10 seconds ahead of Gain Esterholm of Phillips. Stratford’s Cree DeFoe placed fifth in 17:14.4 and Columbus Catholic freshman Nathan Scheer took ninth in 17:50.9.
Stratford placed fourth, Columbus Catholic ninth, Auburndale 12th and Spencer 15th in the boys team standings.
The Stratford girls finished second behind Phillips as two runners grabbed top-10 finishes.
Nora Gremban of Northland Pines won the girls race in 17:43.9. Stratford’s Kayla Casperson took fifth (20:24.5) and Breleigh Skaya was eighth (20:53.2).
Auburndale’s top runner was Rose Hasenohrl, who placed 15th in 21:56.3.
