CHIPPEWA FALLS – Marshfield Columbus Catholic junior Isaac Scheer won the boys race as the Dons took fourth place at the Cloverbelt Conference Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Lake Wissota Golf Course.
Isaac Scheer, who was third at last year’s conference meet, won the boys 5-kilometer race in 16:23.2, nearly 18 seconds in front of runner-up Lucas Anderson of Bloomer. Nathan Scheer added a 10th-place finish (17:37.1) for Columbus Catholic.
Bloomer swept the team titles. The Columbus Catholic boys finished fourth and the girls team took seventh, while the Spencer girls took eighth and the boys were 11th.
Spencer’s top runners were Isaac Howlett, who was 45th in the boys race in 20:42.4, and Addison Knecht took 45th in the girls race in 25:18.4.
Columbus Catholic’s Abby Wojcik earned honorable mention all-Cloverbelt Conference honors by placing 15th in the girls 5K in 21:59.4.
Columbus Catholic and Spencer will compete at a WIAA Division 3 sectional next Saturday, Oct. 21, at Colby High School. The boys race starts at 10:30 a.m. and the girls race begins at 11:30 a.m.
