MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls swim team finished its Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet season with a tight 87-78 victory over Merrill on Thursday at Marshfield High School.
Marshfield won eight of the 11 events, including two each by Terra Risa and Brooke Begotka.
Risa won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:23.10 and the 100 backstroke in 1:06.31, while Begotka won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.55 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.25.
Risa and Begotka were part of the winning 200 medley relay (2:00.04), along with Ireland Moran and Ella Allar, and the team of Risa, Hannah LaPointe, Shiloh Smith and Moran won the 400 freestyle relay in 4:11.41.
Marshfield’s other wins came from Smith in the 200 freestyle (2:17.45) and Moran in the 50 freestyle (26.45 seconds).
The Tigers finish the WVC season with a 2-4 record while Merrill ends up 1-5.
Marshfield will have some time off before competing at the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet at Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday, Oct. 26.
