Neillsville pulls away in second half to sink Columbus Catholic girls basketball

NEILLSVILLE – Neillsville held Columbus Catholic to six points in the second half to bust open a tight game and win 57-25 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball matchup Friday night at Neillsville High School.

The Warriors led 25-19 at halftime before opening up the lead with a 26-point advantage in the second half.

Maggie Callaghan scored eight points for the Dons, who fall to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the Cloverbelt East.

Paris Opelt scored 17 points, and Sydney Subke and Madi Davel each had 15 for Neillsville (5-1, 2-0 Cloverbelt East).

Columbus Catholic’s next game is Thursday at home against Owen-Withee.
